Technical data

The volume regulator sits in the fuel line and keeps the relation between the regulator position and the fuel output reproducible. It is opened at 90° for the published output curves, measured at a viscosity of 5 cSt and a constant pressure drop over the regulator.

Three sizes are available: TYPE 24, TYPE 32 and TYPE 40, each with drawings, output characteristics and a manual in the documentation library. Together with a spill-back atomizer the regulator is what makes a burner controllable over the full modulation band.

Technical data

  • Flow rate: See the published output characteristics per type
  • Shut-off needle: Not applicable (no atomizing orifice)

All figures are nominal reference values at 5 cSt fuel viscosity. Final dimensions are fixed together with the burner head and are confirmed on the order drawing.

Applications

Fields of application

  • Oil burners that must hold a set output regardless of fuel temperature
  • Burners with a spill-back atomizer and a full modulation band
  • Retrofits where the existing regulator position no longer matches the output

Datasheets, drawings, output curves and manuals for this series are published in the documentation library.

Fluid Control Instruments Ltd manufactures to order and quotes per project: send burner head drawings, fuel specification and required flow range to receive a binding quotation.

Features

  • Volume regulators TYPE 24, TYPE 32 and TYPE 40
  • Reproducible output versus regulator position
  • Published output characteristics at 90° open and 5 cSt
  • Drawings, curves and manuals in the documentation library
  • Standard Fluid Control Instruments Ltd quality: 100 % tested for flow rate, spray angle and spray pattern.

Frequently asked questions

Which flow rate range does this series cover?

The published range is [object Object]. Because the atomizer is machined per order, intermediate values inside the range are available as well; send the required output at full load and at minimum load with the burner head drawing.

How large is the turn-down ratio, and how is it achieved?

The turn-down ratio is [object Object]. The atomizer is dimensioned for the burner head, and the return-flow (spill-back) or atomizing-medium control keeps the spray pattern stable across the whole modulation band.

Do we need a shut-off needle, and what does it change?

This series is available with. A shut-off needle closes the nozzle orifice when the burner stops, so no fuel drips into the combustion chamber after shutdown; without it the burner head must provide the sealing function.

Which fuels can be atomized?

Light and heavy fuel oil are the standard duty, including used oil and vegetable oils where viscosity and contamination stay inside the agreed window. The internal geometry is chosen so that the flow rate depends as little as possible on oil temperature; always state density, viscosity and operating temperature when requesting a quotation.

What is the lead time and the minimum order quantity?

Atomizers are made to order; a typical lead time is about 42 days after drawing approval, and the minimum order quantity is 1 piece. Consumable items such as orifices, swirlers, discs and needles are normally available from stock.

Can this series replace the atomizer that is installed today?

Yes in most cases. Send the old order number, a photo of the burner head and the required output; we compare the spray angle, the pattern and the interface with the original Fluid Control Instruments Ltd drawing and confirm which type is interchangeable before the order is placed.
